PUBLIC ART > "Bouma, Owl Mural," Spark Park

A mural created for the Arabic Immersion Magnet School (AIMS) housed at the old Houston School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA). Created for Spark Parks, the mural is part cathedral glass mosaic. It is located on the edge of a new Spark Park created for the Houston Independent School District location. The new park will be a place of respite for children at the school and others living in the neighborhood. The owl depicted is the mascot of the school, Bouma means Owl in Arabic. The Arabic script around the eyes depicts suggestions to students: To Create, To Play, To Learn, To Imagine, To Respect, To Grow, To Encourage.
